The Pollinators - Butterflies and Bees

Classroom Presentations are availiable for WEEK DAYS only. For information on booking presentations for evenings and weekends, or for Birthday Parties, please contact our office directly.

Something is happening to our pollinators - and we need to help. A lecture-format presentation with examples of butterflies, bees, wasps, flies, moths and other pollinators with an environmental agenda we can all care about. Learn about the diversity and ecology of insect-plant interactions, and what could be affecting these populations that is causing them to collapse. We willl focus on indigenous Alberta species so you can take this knowledge and apply it in your own backyard. We'll also debunk common myths about bees and wasps, and present ideas for habitat development, keeping backyard bees, unexpected pollinators (did we say wasps?) and attracting these critical insects to your garden. Find out what you can do, and how to help.

*Note that this program is in lecture format, and NOT appropriate for children under Grade 6.

Curriculum Programming: Grade 7, "Interactions and Ecosystems,"  Grade 7, "Planet Earth," Grade 9, "Biological Diversity," and for Forestry & Conservation Programs outside of school.
